CPSC WORKING WITH STATE AGs ON CPSIA COORDINATION
CPSC has been meeting in closed-door sessions with representatives of about 30 state attorneys general offices, Compliance Director Gib Mullan October 26 told an audience at the Toronto meeting of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO).

CPSC TO HOLD WORKSHOP ON ‘15 MONTH RULE’
CPSC will hold a two-day public workshop on the testing rules under CPSIA Section 102(d), CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum October 27 told attendees of the Toronto meeting of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO).

NORTHUP SAYS SUPPORTING TSCP MAY EXCEED CPSC MANDATE

CPSC Commissioner Anne Northup October 27 expressed concerns about the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) Toy Safety Certification Program (TSCP), wondering aloud if CPSC’s backing of the plan would exceed its mandate and, in addition, disadvantage smaller toy makers.

Concerns of manufacturers and importers related Canada’s update of its product safety laws (bill C-6) echo those heard from companies regulated in the U.S., it became clear at the ICPHSO conference in Toronto.
