FEDS OFFER EXPANDED IMPORT SAFETY PLAN
The Interagency Working Group on Import Safety November 6 called for improvements to U.S. policies to target unsafe foreign products.

Survey results released November 7 by Maritz Research show that while 82% of toy-buying respondents are aware of the recent recalls of Chinese-made toys due to lead paint, only 38% say they plan to check labels for countries-of-origin during holiday shopping.

USFA URGES BETTER COOKING FIRE KNOWLEDGE
Educating consumers to keep items that can ignite away from heat sources and how to react to cooking or clothes fires are among the recommendations in a report issued November 7 by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
