CPSC Details Residential Fires from 2008-2010


There were an annual average estimated 2,310 deaths, 12,550 injuries and $7.09 billion in property loss from 366,700 unintentional consumer product-related residential fires in the three years from 2008-2010, according to a CPSC report made available October 9. The data were derived from the U.S. Fire Administration’s National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Survey of Fire Departments for U.S. Fire Experience.
