ASTM Panel Continues Battery Ingestion Discussion


An ASTM workgroup for battery operated toys October 10 continued discussion on button/coin cell ingestion and hazard requirements for ASTM F963, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety. Following on the heels of their September 24 meeting (PSL, 10/1/12, p. 1), subcommittee members considered statistical industry and incident data as well as comparable UL standards as they tightened the focus of their draft language to address the hazards of battery ingestion by children.
