CPSC Staff Call for Update of Cooking Range Standard
CPSC staff August 17 reported plans to approach UL to form a task group to seek new standards aimed at ignition of cooking material in pans. This came in reaction to a study by CPSC-contractor Primaira that found pan temperature-limiting control technology promising. The group’s report of work done in 2010 and 2011 explained that in tests on such devices, there were no fires on cooktops, including at high settings using fats and oils.
