CPSC to Consider Petition to Update Glazing Rules

Commissioners August 23 voted 4-0 to docket a petition that asks it to replace current testing procedures for glazing materials in certain architectural products. The Safety Glazing Certification Council in June requested that CPSC start a rulemaking to replace testing procedures at 16 CFR 1201.4 with those in ANSI Z97.1, American National Standard for Safety Glazing Materials Used in Building – Safety Performance Specifications and Methods of Test.
