GAO Urges Update of FCC Cellphone Radiation Limits


The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should reevaluate limits for radio frequency (RF) energy exposure from mobile phones, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) urged August 7. The congressional office wrote, “FCC’s current RF energy exposure limit for mobile phones, established in 1996, may not reflect the latest evidence on the thermal effects of RF energy exposure and may impose additional costs on manufacturers and limitations on mobile phone designs.”
