CPSC Administrative Complaint Targets Second Magnet Firm

CPSC members voted 3-1 August 6 to file a second administrative complaint seeking a recall of loose, rare earth magnets, this one against Zen Magnets. Commissioner Nancy Nord cast the negative vote. The move followed a week after the company issued a strongly worded open letter rejecting the agency’s request for a recall (PSL, 8/6/12, p. 1) and two weeks after CPSC took similar legal action against Maxfield & Oberton (PSL, 7/30/12, p. 1).
