Commissioners Give Views on Recordkeeping Impasse
Written comments from three commissioners give more insight into the 2-2, party-line split that has stalled changes to CPSC testing sample rules. The tie (PSL, 7/16/12, p. 1) meant that the rule – prompted by the 2011 CPSIA amendment law’s change of the term random to representative for testing samples – could not be finalized. Republican Commissioners Nancy Nord and Anne Northup sought removal of new language due to their concerns about recordkeeping burdens.
