CPSC May Revoke Outdated Cap Gun Rules

Commissioners voted 4-0 June 19 to publish a notice of proposed rulemaking to revoke rules for cap guns that staff deem obsolete and duplicative. The rules are superseded by ASTM’s F963 toy standard, which has been made mandatory in action (PSL, 2/20/12, p. 1) prompted by the CPSIA.

Specifically, the revoked rules would involve 16 CFR 1500.18(a)(5) on noise limits, 1600.86(a)(6) on noise limit exemptions, and 1500.47 test methods and equipment. The agency will seek comments for 60 days following publication ... Log in to view full article.
